We know that almost every Italian home has its Spaghetti Sauce Recipes. It is either passed down from generations or a twist to match a certain palette. I am not Italian so, I need to come up with my recipe. Although I won't mind getting an old recipe from a true Italian. (anyone?)
All I know about Spaghetti is that it is simple. Now, if you know me and my website, almost all of my recipe are pretty easy. I learn from several times eating this dish, it is better to have everything fresh and avoid those canned tomatoes paste or sauce. Making tomato sauce is not that hard.
The Simplest And Fresh Spaghetti Recipe
That is why I call this dish, my simplest recipe of all Italian dishes, at least that I know of. I didn't make my own spaghetti, If you can, blessed your soul. I am using packed spaghetti with a very simple and basic sauce. I am highlighting fresh ingredient as the key to this spaghetti recipe.
Ingredients
- Ground Beef. For spaghetti typically we use 85% lean ground beef. It is tender with little fat. Optional can be ground turkey, chicken or none if you are a vegetarian.
- Tomato sauce. I create a tomato bath in abundance and put them in jars. It doesn't have to be smooth. I like my spaghetti with some chuck of tomatoes.
- Diced tomatoes. If you want more texture, adding diced cherry tomatoes can be an option.
- Beef broth. It gives a layer of a meaty taste. I like to get the broth from the minced ground beef, but for practicality reason, you can always buy it.
- Mushrooms. Typically I diced the Mushrooms, don't forget to make sure they are fresh or it can spoil the recipe.
- A splash of wine. This is optional, my friends say it added flavour. I am not a big fan of wine, so this is just personal preference.
- Onion, celery and fresh garlic.
- Dried herbs, salt, black pepper and a pinch of sugar. Bay leaves is a must.
- Dried cloves. If I can say a secret ingredient in my spaghetti. This will be it. Add a few whole cloves about 5 -6 for an earthy kick.
Step by Step Guide For The Simple Spaghetti
1. The sauce.
Focus is on the sauce. A fresh sauce is key to a great spaghetti recipe. Here is what you need to do.
Mix peeled tomatoes, 5 tablespoons of butter, peeled and halved onion, and a few pinches of salt.
Bring tomatoes to simmer and stir it well. Let it cook for about 45 minutes. Break the tomatoes with a wooden spoon until it is lumpy or to your liking. I like to keep it chucked for texture.
Add the mushrooms and minced beef.
Season the sauce with salt, sugar, black pepper herbs and don't forget the clovers.
2. Spaghetti
Boil your Spaghetti on a large pot. Put some oil to keep them apart from each other. A pinch of salt adds flavour.
3. Spaghetti Mixture
For large batch, I separate the spaghetti with its sauce. I like an abundance of sauce on my plate. For single serving. I like to put the spaghetti into the sauce and stir them well. Don't forget to discard the leaves before tossing the pasta.
So, that is my secret homemade Spaghetti sauce with beef. Tell me about your favourite spaghetti experience. Do you have any?
